Textures!

I currently starting to create a few tiling textures for my graduation project that I will continue working on in February.

I made a tiling base mesh in Maya and sculpted in zBrush. Compositing and hand painting done in Photoshop.

Textures on a plane! (<- should be a movie). Rendered in Marmoset.

Oh and Happy new year!

Almost there..

Currently trying to wrap up my little well scene. Worked on the lighting a bit more and decided to make it a lot darker since the well itself has a light source from the attached lantern and it helps focusing on the model more. I am still planning to finish the lantern and maybe add a ground texture for the surrounding area if the composition needs it. Open for feedback as always.

Tree Update

I decided to give the trees another pass and ended up doing a new one.

Sculpt in zBrush. I used zSpheres to get the shape.
Retopologized model.
Texture pass on the tree bark.
 Final textures.

Well Update

Put some more time into adding some geometry into the roof tiles. And adding some bits and bobs here and there.

Scene Update

I decided to make the scene smaller and organize it more as a diorama. Lamp still needs a texture, some fixes on the well, additional objects on the ground, etc etc...

I'm making a weapon - Modeling

Modeling of my weapon concept. All modeling done in Maya.

Almost stayed 100% true to my concept. I only had to shift the lower blade area because there wasn't enough space for extrusions which i didn't think of before modeling.

I'm currently at just below 1.6k tris and will probably lower that number a little more before moving on to UVing and texturing.

I'm making a weapon.

First of all it's been a while since I posted and the huge stylized environment project will be finished but as it is a school assignment I am taking a break at the moment. I also will be on an internship for half a year where I can only make so little progress on school projects. So don't expect any major progress.

Also there was this world cup thing which we won!^^

As a short little side project I decided to make a weapon and while gathering reference and doing some concept sketches I decided to make a stylized dagger. I'll post more work in progress here on my blog so I have a little more to post the coming weeks. Here we go:

Curvy dangerous slicing shapes. Testing silhouettes before going into detail.

I preferred the silhouette of the more curved version and made a very quick paintover.

Final concept for my dagger. This is detailed enough for me to start modeling. I expect to make a few more changes during the whole progress but this is a good starting point.

I'll start modeling this in a few days and hope to share more progress very soon.

Graveyard

Worked on the graveyard part of the mountain again, now that I have the dimensions of the rest figured out.

Way into the graveyard:

Polish #1

As I have to deliver the blockout next week I am taking the rest of the time to polish and clean up the whole scene. Pretty pleased with the "end"(/halfway-through) result. Trying to have another update before delivery.

Behind the Mountain

Made progress on the side and back of the mountain area. After the town area, the environment changes to a more grim and dangerous place. The roads get narrower and more adventurous. Nearly worked my way up the mountain. Up next is the bridge area and the graveyard. Got 2,5 weeks left for the blockout.
